Rumours always seem to come out of thin air. The idea that Brad Pitt could be starring in a prequel series of Sons of Anarchy is one such rumour. However, were it to happen then the cast of Sons of Anarchy have already signaled their support for the idea.
Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam recently spoke to Men’s Journal and claimed that he would love to see a prequel happen: “Kurt [Sutter] is trying to get it going. Did you read that about Brad Pitt maybe playing my dad? Brad Pitt as John Teller. How awesome would that be?”
It would be seriously awesome to see the ever-cool Brad Pitt in a Sons of Anarchy prequel, but will it happen? Probably not, reflects Hunnam: “I’m not sure when it would happen though, he’s got another TV show he’s working on.”
By ‘him’ he refers to Kurt Sutter, the creator of the series. Sutter has filled his recent schedule with work on The Bastard Executioner, an historical drama series which was cancelled after one season.
However, before working on a prequel series, Sutter has stated that he is currently developing a spin-off series which will focus on The Mayans, a Californian biker gang which often finds itself at odds with SAMCRO, the biker gang around which Sons of Anarchy revolves.
So, far from having any confirmation that Brad Pitt will star in this mysterious prequel series, we don’t even know if it will be happening because it’s so far down Sutter’s to-do list. I suppose that’s one more rumour we can put to bed.
