2015 ‘The Voice UK’ Winner Stevie McCrorie Quits Music | Music News

After winning the fourth series of The Voice UK, the future looked bright for the former fireman Stevie McCrorie. His cover of “Lost Stars” reached No. 6 in the UK Charts, the highest charting for any contestant from The Voice UK. Before this hit in early 2015, the show had often been criticised for not producing the commercial talent of that seen in competitors like The X Factor and its foreign counterparts.

Stevie, however, is adding fire to the debate, after quitting the music business just months after his album Big World debuted at a respectable No. 35 in the Album charts. Not bad for an unknown making a solo debut with little marketing. The album’s delay, it appeared months after his showbiz success propelled him into the spotlight, didn’t help Stevie.

However the lack of support in the industry is what finally forced Stevie back to Fife, working full-time in his previous role as a fireman. When asked by The Courier whether he might return to music, he replied “Ideally I’d like to have the opportunity to go back if they’d allow me. It would just be a security blanket kind of thing“. Well here’s hoping other artists get better treatment than Stevie anyway.
