After the success of Beyoncé’s album The Lion King: The Gift, which was published in July in conjunction with the release of the remake of the 1994 movie The Lion King, ABC will air a documentary titled Beyonce Presents: Making The Gift that unveils a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album. The documentary is written, produced and co-directed by the singer along with Ed Burke.
As Beyoncé has explained, the documentary will explore the creative process behind the publication of the record, with interview, clips and recording session footage that will show her collaborations with other artists and producers, among which we can recall Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Tierra Whack, Childish Gambino, Shatta Wale and Major Lazer.
The creation of the album was deeply inspired by her own experiences in Africa: “This creativity is informed by her travels throughout the continent, from the tranquility of the pyramids of Egypt to the bustling and joyous atmospheres of Nigeria and South Africa. The narrative, steeped in love and appreciation, highlights the beauty of the people and the vibrant sounds of a pulsating continent” the synopsis reads.
To conclude, the artist claimed her intention to make her album a showcase of African sounds: “I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa”.
Fans are looking forward to watching the documentary and, following the excellent quality of the album, we are sure that it won’t fail their expectations.
