Afropop sensation Adekunle Gold has unveiled some new heat in the form of his latest single “Kelegbe Megbe (Know Your Level)“.
Jazzy horns and live instrumentation make “Kelegbe Megbe” truly a homage to the traditional sounds of highlife and Afrobeat. Mixing Adekunle’s timeless folk sound with more progressive, mainstream pop tendencies, this latest effort is really giving highlife a fresh new meaning.
With renowned Nigerian filmmaker Clarence Peters (the go to director for many African artists) in the directors chair, the visuals center around the contemporary coolness of the new Nigerian cultural renaissance. Displaying luxury, elegance and forward thinking fashion, the visuals emanate taste-maker appeal and echo the song’s message about following your own lead and not society.
Speaking in detail on the themes behind the single, Adekunle Gold says: “When you know who you are, what you represent and are fully confident in yourself, you stop listening to opinions, trends and suggestions, good or bad because if you believe the good from a source, you better believe the bad from that same source, after all, human beings are fickle.”
