Afrobeats Duo El’Vee Pay Tribute To ‘Balotelli’ In New Single

Twin sisters El’Vee are rising artists in the UK Afrobeats scene and have a unique perspective, being a female fronted act in such a male-dominated music scene.

The British-Nigerian duo make music that has one foot in the UK and the other in West Africa, as they take elements of the thriving Afrobeats scene and mix them with UK club and pop sounds, resulting in radio-friendly crossover bangers. They also aim to tackle the gender imbalance found in the Afrobeats scene, championing female strength and empowerment across their output.

Their new single celebrates their love of the global game and one of its most colourful characters. Entitled “Balotelli”, the track oozes sauce and a carefree nature that the enigmatic Balotelli is so famed for. Produced by Tiwezi and engineered by KrizBeatz, the collaboration showcases the twins’ syncopated vocal style which adds an extra rhythmic element to the club friendly anthem.

Speaking of the track, El’Vee aka Lilian and Vivian say, “This song was inspired due to our love for football and the talent that is Balotelli. Football has always been something that brings people together, especially in African communities and we wanted to celebrate that passion through our love of Balotelli who has been instrumental to the sport globally”.

The vibrant music video was shot out in Lagos, and captures the tireless energy of the thriving city. With dance at the core of their music, the video also celebrates an array of the city’s street dance talent.
