Agent Coulson & ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Villains Return For ‘Captain Marvel’ | Film News

The cameras have started rolling and more details about the upcoming MCU blockbuster Captain Marvel have been revealed – including some surprises in the cast. Clark Gregg, whose character Agent Coulson was supposedly killed in the first Avengers (2012) film, will return.

For the most devoted fans, there’s no secret, that Coulson was resurrected for the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. But his return also makes sense, bearing in mind that the film’s events will be set in 90’s, meaning, more than a decade before Iron Man – the first entry in the MCU, set and released the same year, in 2008.

Two villains from Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) with mercenary Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) will also return, as they both are Kree (one of the fictional races) and the story contains some elements from Kree-Skrull War, depicted in 1971 comic book.

The film’s lead character Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is one of the strongest superheroes in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. But what’s the most exciting about it is that she’s the first female to headline Marvel solo film! Finally!

Other confirmed names on the cast include Samuel L. Jackson, who will star as young Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn, who will portray the main villain, Jude Law, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan and more.

The film will be out on March 8, 2019. But first – there’s the Avengers: Infinity War coming next month!
