Alicia Keys previewed her new single “We Are Here” on Facebook and Instagram recently and has now debuted its music video. Alongside the song, she released a statement describing the inspiration behind the song and how it came to her – the growing frustration and the state of the world and how all of us can make a difference. She went on further to add what we could achieve together to make a kinder peaceful and loving foreseeable future for our children to live in. It included sentiments about a better and stronger future and a clearer perspective, if we put ‘we’ before everything. The singer is also expecting her second child and working on her upcoming album.
“The day I wrote this song, I was sitting in a circle of people of all ages and we were asked, ‘Why are you here. Why am I here??’ This really hit me on a deep level. I realized no one had ever asked me that question before. As I prepare to give birth to a new child, I can’t help and think about the world I’m bringing my baby into.
