Last Friday All Time Low announced the release of a brand new song named “Once In A Lifetime” for this week and we got it last night. This song is their first new music since their album Wake Up, Sunshine in April 2020, which debuted a #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Album Chart.
The single was written with the same collaborators as the last album, Zakk Cervini and Andrew Goldstein.
About the song, Alex Gaskarth said that “Once In A Lifetime is a song about loss and dealing with loss, facing harsh realities and coming out the other side stronger for it.”
“Once In A Lifetime” is an energetic song in a pop spirit but under it, we find some sad lyrics. However, it is still an optimistic track. The single has the look of a summer anthem. ‘Once in a lifetime’ is an expression we often use to talk about opportunities but here, the expression has some nuances.
The lead vocalist also adds that they “wrote this song in bleaker times, in a world still asleep at the wheel that left us all relearning how to navigate the uncertain roads ahead, but ultimately there is a hopeful undertone to the entire sentiment. Things can only be so bad and once it’s over, it’s over; there’s room to start rebuilding”.
“Once In A Lifetime” follows their hit “Monster”, featuring Blackbear. Recently, they made a remix of the song with the pop icon Demi Lovato. Fans were afraid that this new song wouldn’t be as good as “Monster”, but we can see that people were pleasantly surprised.
“Once In A Lifetime” came with its music video directed by Max Moore, watch it here:
