The artist Fritz Hager who calls himself “The Indie Guy” has just released a new dynamic single “Caroline.”
Fritz Hager, a pop/alternative artist and former American Idol contestant, creates a fictional one-night stand story in which the main male character forgets the name of his heroine acquaintance.
On the “morning after,” the singer struggles to determine whether he is having a not-so-funny nightmare or apathetic forgetfulness when he is confronted by daylight.
The song, which was co-written by pop/alternative songwriter Francisco Martin and multi-platinum producer/songwriter Drew Pearson with Martin playing drums, is now available on all digital platforms along with an animated lyric video.
Hager grew up as a normal preacher’s child, spending time both in the choir’s stands and the pews. In the sixth grade, he took up his first guitar and began writing, drawing inspiration from his musical heroes, including AC/DC, The Killers, Oasis, Ed Sheeran, James Bay, and John Mayer.
It was then that he established his voice. After dropping out of college, he took a mental health break, which turned out to be a time of growth and creativity.
However, like everyone else during the epidemic, he was forced to decide between postponing his career and following his ambitions by any means necessary.
This led to his American Idol audition, when he won the hearts of the audience and peaked at position five.
“I write for two reasons,” Hager reflects, “to bring sincerity into the mainstream—making observations about the world, personal struggles, universal struggles—and escapism, which is to simply zone out and have fun. There’s a need for both, and I like finding the balance.”
Hager breaks down barriers and bridges the gap between the serious and the silly. While indie music is frequently characterised as angst-filled and harsh, Hager portrays the attitudes and fears of Generation Z with comedy.
