US singer Semayawi has released her new song “Twitter Fingers”, alongside her latest album called Rays. The song is the first one of the record, and approaches the use of social media in one’s dating life, and how they make everybody “lazy daters”, as explains the vocalist.
The track is an acoustic offering, like her new album, that is her first fully acoustic project. Rays contains a total of seven songs, and is now available on all digital platforms.
This release follows the success of her debut album Free Birds, a versatile piece blending R&B and hip-hop sounds to capture the singer’s passion for writing and performing unveiled on March 20 of this year.
Semayawi is a multi-talented artist based in Los Angeles, whose stage name comes from the Amharic language and translates to “blue”. She was born and raised in the city of angels to an Ethiopian father and an American mother, allowing her to draw inspiration from multiple musical genres and diverse sounds.
She graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts and Dance, and is currently working on earning her Master of Music degree in Music Technology while continuing to hone her craft. She has released her first project in 2014, but her music has evolved a lot since, like this new song an album demonstrate.
