Ariel Schulman & Henry Joost To Direct Action Thriller ‘Undo’

Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost (Catfish) have been hired to helm action-thriller Undo for New Line Cinema. They will direct from Will Simmons‘ screenplay, which was featured on the 2022 Black List of best unproduced screenplays.

Undo follows a former getaway driver who comes into possession of a watch that allows its user to go back in time, but only by one minute. Beau Flynn (Black Adam, Red Notice) is producing through his FlynnPictureCo banner. Scott Sheldon will executive produce.

Schulman and Joost got their start with faux-documentary Catfish, before going on to direct a pair of Paranormal Activity movies and sci-fi films Nerve, Viral, and Project Power. Their most recent project was 2022 Owen Wilson superhero comedy Secret Headquarters, which was a Paramount+ exclusive.

Simmons is currently adapting Robert Kirkman‘s acclaimed sci-fi graphic novel Hardcore for Universal, which will see Adam Wingard (Godzilla Vs Kong) direct. He recently worked on the Sleepy Hollow remake and the in-development reboot of Internal Affairs, both for Paramount.

Schulman and Joost usually tackle thrillers with an interesting twist to the formula, and it sounds like Undo has exactly that. We’ll see if they can use this project to bounce back to relevancy after a few lean years.
