Arnold Schwarzenegger Set For Movie Return In Action Film ‘Breakout’

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set for a movie comeback after a four-year hiatus with action-thriller Breakout, which has also secured The Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh behind the camera.

Schwarzenegger will play Terry Reynolds. When his stepson is framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign country, Reynolds makes a daring jailbreak to save him and must overcome an overzealous prison warden in a race against time to avoid capture and flee the country.

Richard D’Ovidio has written the screenplay based on a story he co-created with Nicole D’Ovidio. Richard previously penned Halle Berry thriller The Call and is currently writing for the Apple series The Last Frontier, which he co-created.

This will be Schwarzenegger’s first film role since 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, but he’s about to be back in the spotlight in a big way.

In addition to Breakout, he has Netflix series Fubar set to premiere next month, and is still involved in long-gestating Twins sequel Triplets, but that’s been delayed following the death of Ivan Reitman last year.

Anton is financing the film, and one of their producers, Sebastien Raybaud, said in a statement: “We are proud to be on board to make Scott’s vision come alive with the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead. This is the perfect fit for Anton’s slate to continue delivering high-quality entertainment with big scale to the global market.”

Fans will be happy to see Arnie back on the big screen. Who knows how many action roles like this he has left in him. Filming on Breakout will kick off later this year in Eastern Europe.
