Australian band The Clever References have just dropped their third single “Tell Ben Kate”, which they released independently on digital streaming platforms, delivering a fresh indie rock track that will grab your attention from its very first beats.
Formed in 2019, The Clever References are an indie rock band currently based in Melbourne, Australia. Group members are Wednesday Ash on vocals and guitar, Mélisande Ricou on bass and Evan Keith on percussion. The three-piece group have The White Stripes and Placebo among their main models, though they’re definitely creating unique alternative rock sounds.
“Tell Ben Kate” is their third single, featuring a pulsating rhythm, engaging instrumentation and meaningful lyrics. Talking about the track, percussionist Evan Keith explained: “This song is about loneliness in the modern world and the way we try to connect with one another yet always end up losing part of our personalities in the process”.
The Clever References did not only write existential lyrics, but they also focused on political issues as this brand new single contains an ironic critique to western society and to our often superficial aspirations. This inspiring single has the powerful vibes you need to go fight for your rights and to dream big, so make sure you do not miss it!
