Ben Affleck To Star In New Robert Rodriguez Thriller ‘Hypnotic’ | Film News

Ben Affleck has signed on to star in Robert Rodriguez‘s upcoming thriller, Hypnotic. The film tells the story of a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while at the same time investigating a string of high-end heists.

Rodriguez has co-written the film alongside Kong: Skull Island screenwriter Max Borenstein. Rodriguez is staying in familiar territory with the action film, which comes on the heels of his last project, the cyberpunk actioner Alita: Battle Angel. Studio 8 and Solstice Studios are producing. Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov said of the project:

“Working with Ben on his award-winning projects, including Argo and The Town, I have seen how his versatility and creativity has made him one of the most talented filmmakers both in front of and behind the camera. It’s very meaningful to be collaborating with Ben again on this uniquely riveting suspense thriller, and I know he and Robert will make a terrific film together”.

This latest project for Affleck means that his 2020 is looking very busy. He’s already got Ridley Scott‘s The Last Duel lined up, a WWII movie titled Ghost Army that he’s also directing, and a remake of classic courtroom thriller, Witness For The Prosecution. He’s directing that one, too. Surely not all of these films will be released next year, but either way, Affleck has a lot on his plate.

Hypnotic is scheduled to begin filming in April. One of those aforementioned movies will probably shoot in the first three months of the year, and Affleck will likely join Hypnotic after that.
