The frontman of famous American rock band Green Day has commented on instagram, saying “I’m writing new songs for gd now”.
Billie Joe Armstrong releases little info about the upcoming songs, but holds back on details, leaving fans in suspense of what’s to come.
The singer / songwriter last released an original album for Green Day back in 2016 called Revolution Radio, and a compilation of their greatest hits was released in 2017.
Their famous hit ‘American Idiot’, which released in 2004 under the album titled the same name, returned to U.K charts earlier this year following Trump’s visit to the country. According to Independent, “The track was originally written in part about President George W. Bush and features lyrics such as: “Don’t wanna be an American idiot/One nation controlled by the media/Information Age of hysteria/It’s calling out to idiot America.””
Though we haven’t been given anymore information as to whether this will be an album or not, we should expect great things, since according to NME, their last studio album “was described as their strongest work since ‘American Idiot'”.
The comment came on live stream, where one fan screen-grabbed the moment and posted to their instagram account.
