Billie Lourd, Colin Hanks, and Aisling Bea have all signed on to star in And Mrs, a comedy film from Sideswiped director Daniel Reisinger.
The film will take place in London where a woman named Gemma is preparing for her wedding day with her American fiancé Nathan. But tragedy strikes when Nathan unexpectedly passes away shortly before the couple can exchange vows.
It’s then that Gemma’s would-be sister-in-law suggests that she marry Nathan anyway. The decision sends the public into a frenzy with everyone offering up their personal feelings on the macabre matter, with Gemma also facing down her own family who are put off by her choice. Not to mention the law that regards the idea as a matter of unholy matrimony.
In the middle of it all, Gemma finds herself pushing for what she believes to be the right decision, and above all else – love.
The film marks the second feature for comedy producer Dan Hine‘s London label, Who’s on First. Hine will be producing alongside U.S. producing and financing partners, FirstGen Content. Playwright Melissa Bubnic has penned the script. Director Reisinger said in a statement:
“And Mrs is the comedy we need after the last couple of years, one which helps us laugh through the tears. We’re lucky to have a cast gifted enough to nail the unique tone and who really embody their characters.”
The film sounds like a bit of an oddity, and it will be intriguing to see how it works on screen. Cameras are planning to get rolling in London over the next month or so.
Lourd had her breakout in Olivia Wilde‘s Booksmart and will next be seen alongside George Clooney and Julia Roberts in romantic comedy Ticket To Paradise.
Hanks was recently seen in Paramount+ drama The Offer and will soon star in true crime limited drama series A Friend Of The Family. Bea will soon be seen starring in Greatest Days, a film based on the songs of Take That.
