BJ The Chicago Kid’s sophomore effort, In My Mind, was released about a week ago. The Chicago native is signed to Motown and has collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar, amongst others. His latest video for the album, “Oh My God/Woman’s World”, has cinematic aspects to it, the music fading out twice for extended visuals.
The song itself opens with bending and wild guitars before a kicked back synthetic bassline kicks back and grooves, then comes tinkling pianos for the “Woman’s World” segment. The video concept, titled “A Day In My Mind”, sees BJ wakeup and prepare for, seemingly, the big payback with Jay Rock in the driver’s seat. The latter references “papa got a brand new bag” in his rap; before the James Brown inspired “Woman’s World”, a total change in pace.
