Bodega & New Balance Partner For 997S ‘No Days Off’ Collaboration | Fashion News

Boston-Based retailer Bodega has teamed up with New Balance once again, this time on the New Balance 997S silhouette. Bodega has long maintained its status among the collaborators in sneakers. Their work spreads far and wide and across varying brands. They recently  partnered with Reebok on the “Shanghai” pack in December and with Vans to rework the classical “Authentic” in February.

The theme of the shoe is “No Days Off,” which speaks to the versatility and durability of the model. “You’re familiar with the sneakerhead stock comedy character, guy who puts plastic bags on his shoes in the rain? This shoe is the exact opposite. This is a shoe for wearing every day, for taking outside, for doing actual stuff in. Wear it in the rain; get dirt on it.” – Bodega said.

Somebody who, by choice, may only own two or three pairs of sneakers, at most, at a time, and wear them until they need to be physically replaced, would have little or no use for a sneaker that is, essentially, an objet d’art. When a shoe is going to be consistently on-foot, the most important factors are comfort, reliability, and durability. If you were to build a shoe from the ground up to fulfill these conditions, you would end up with the New Balance 997, a shoe that transcends artificially imposed boundaries. Releases exclusively via @ntwrk on 4/4 and in-store and online at Bodega on 4/6. Retail is $160. The shoe comes constructed in a mix of mesh and suede covering the toe box and quarter panel. Rubber and synthetic materials are used on the tongue and heel, highlighted with Orange, Yellow, and Purple accents on the brand “N” logo, tongue and heel. Other branding elements include New Balance’s ABZORB and ENCAP cushioning, as well as the brand’s “997S” emblem, which are spotlighted on the heel.

They also have a curved mudguard and graphic-printed insole cap of the key features, while three different lace options (white, black and orange) complete the style. Check out below the shoe’s details in pictures.
