Bong Joon-Ho Completes Script For ‘Parasite’ Prequel | Film News

Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-Ho has confirmed that he has finished writing the script for one of the two prequels of the ‘Best Picture’ movie Parasite.

The Korean director shared this news on The Director Cut’s podcast by saying “It feels like I’m splitting my brain between half left and right writing these two scripts. But I finished one last week”. However, we have not had much information about the plot of these two prequels.

For the moment, the only information we know is that one of the scripts is written in Korean while the other is in English. Concerning the Korean one, Bong Joon-ho said “the Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action”.

He also added, “It’s difficult to define the genre of my films. The English project is a drama film based on a true event that happened in 2016. Of course, I won’t know until I finish the script, but it has to be set half in the U.K. and half in the U.S.”

On top of that, the director confessed last year that an HBO spin-off series of Parasite was also in the making with American director Adam McKay at his side. The series is designed to make use of some of the ideas rejected from the original film script.

We have no information at the moment as to when these projects will be released.
