Boston-based alternative folk artist the last optimist unveiled his latest album seed water sun on July 13, 2023.

Historically, the last optimist has been encapsulated by the term ‘sad folk.’ However, a closer listen reveals a deeper truth: his tracks, while emotionally potent, are significantly more than just melancholic; they’re powerfully self-aware and open-eyed to both the majestic and the merciless corners of human existence.
