The new single “Buried Alive” by Vancouver blues, jazz and soul singer Krystle Dos Santos was released on January 17, 2020 on all platforms! It’s the first sound from her Bloom / Burn album which is scheduled for release on February 28.
The artist of Guyanese origin grew up in Edmonton. She studied at the elite Canadian College of Performing Arts in this same city. She released her debut album in 2008, which won Urban Recording of the Year at the 2009 Western Canadian Music Awards. Her second album Fame Fatale was released in 2011 and received a nomination at the 2012 WCMA.
The artist has performed across Canada. In addition to this, she is an actress and has appeared in several musicals such as Dream Girls at the Vancouver Art Club and The Chelsea Hotel: The Song Of Leonard Cohen at the Firehall Arts Center.
She also created her own show BLAK, Exploring Canada’s Black History. In addition, she is developing another cabaret-style musical titled Hey Viola! about Viola Desmond with Tracey Power.
In her single “Buried Alive”, the artist talks about the social problem of domestic violence. She talks about violent relationships, about the courage necessary to take actions to escape this violence, about the external support that the victims can find. The album Bloom / Burn, of which the single is a part, has two sides: it talks about darkness and light in the world.
