Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan have signed on to star in the thriller Every Breath You Take. The film helms from Sunshine Cleaning director Christine Jeffs. 13 Films will produce alongside Richard B. Lewis of Southpaw Entertainment.
Affleck will play a psychiatrist whose career is thrown into jeopardy when his patient takes her own life. When he invites his patient’s surviving brother into his home to meet his wife (Monaghan) and daughter, his family life is suddenly torn apart. Sam Claflin and Veronica Ferres will co-star.
This isn’t the first time Affleck and Monaghan have starred together in a thriller. They led the 2007 crime thriller Gone Baby Gone, which was helmed by Casey’s brother Ben. If this film can match the mystery and quiet intensity of that film, we’ll be in for something great.
Producer Lewis said of the project: “I’m extremely pleased that the gifted Christine Jeffs and our world-class cast have come together to bring this amazing thriller to life, as it touches on themes of family, betrayal and redemption that are universal and resonate for all of us”.
13 Films will handle the global rights to the film, and will present it to buyers for the first time at the American Film Market in Santa Monica. Production will begin this month in Vancouver, Canada.
