Chadwick Boseman Set To Star In ’17 Bridges’ | Film News

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has lined up his next role outside of the Marvel juggernaut. He will produce and star in the upcoming action thriller 17 Bridges, which is being put together by STXfilms.

Boseman will play a disgraced NYPD detective who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. Brian Kirk, who has directed episodes of Luther and Game Of Thrones, will helm the film from a script penned by Adam Mervis (The Philly Kid).

Boseman’s writing and producing partner Logan Coles will also produce as will Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo under their recently launched Agbo banner. STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson said in a statement:

“STX has assembled a dream team of collaborators on 17 Bridges, bringing together the global talents behind two of the biggest action films ever made to give audiences a thrilling new take on the race-against-the-clock crime-drama”.

STX is only four years old but has recently been ramping up its mid-level action movies with recognisable stars such as Mark Wahlberg in Mile 22 and Jennifer Garner in Peppermint. Both of those films will arrive soon and if they deliver, could signal a new player in the action genre.

17 Bridges is due to begin production in September.
