After it was announced that Channel 4 would be making a UK adaptation of comedy seriesWeb Therapy, entitled Hang Ups, earlier this year, the long anticipated cast has finally been released. David Tennant is perhaps the most notable among the cast to support Stephen Mangan as the unconventional therapist’s patients.
Game of Thrones‘ Charles Dance, Conleth Hill, and Richard E. Grant are all set to swap swords for a webcam, along with others, including Jessica Hynes (W1A), Katherine Parkinson (Humans), Karl Theobald (Alan Partridge), Sarah Hadland (Miranda), Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Paul Ritter (Friday Night Dinner).
The show is a remake of the US, Emmy nominated series Web Therapy, which starred Lisa Kudrow as its unorthodox therapist, and enjoyed guests as big as Meryl Streep. The British adaptation will follow the same line, with Mangan’s character, Richard Pitt, challenged daily by his home life and troubled past.
Robert Delamere and Stephen Mangan have written the remake, with Delamere also directing. The dark comedy will be made up of six thirty minute episodes, largely improvised, airing in 2018.
