Actor Charlie Sheen is reported to make a personal announcement on NBC’s Today show later today. Coinciding with a story from The National Enquirer and subsequently from TMZ, it is said the actor will open up about his diagnosis as HIV positive in an interview with Matt Lauer on the show.

The National Enquirer story comes a fortnight after Radar Online claimed a Hollywood ‘bad-boy’ was diagnosed with HIV two years ago. Sheen has remained away from the media spotlight since FX cancelled Anger Management last year and, at one point in his career, was the highest paid actor in the television world. It is reported that the 50-year-old took $1.9m per episode for his work in Two and a Half Men.
