Chiwetel Ejiofor To Star In Upcoming Prison Drama ‘Marching Powder’ | Film News
BAFTA Award-winner Chiwetel Ejiofor will star in an upcoming TV prison drama titled Marching Powder as Thomas McFadden. The TV series will focus on dealings between a drug trafficker and a journalist which take place in a ridiculously corrupt prison located in South America. The show is based on the book of the same name written by Rusty Young. It is the true story of British drug smuggler Thomas McFadden who ended up in San Pedro prison after being arrested in Bolivia, where prisoners have to buy their own prison cell or risk sleeping outside and dying of the heat. Thomas made money by giving backpackers tours of the prison and journalist Young heard about McFadden, visited him and bribed prison guards to stay in McFadden’s cell and to document his prison stay. Don Cheadle will also star in the film and produce it. The production team have not yet confirmed who will be playing Rusty Young.
