Chloë Grace Moretz To Star In Amazon Series Adaptation Of ‘The Peripheral’ | TV News

Chloë Grace Moretz has signed on to star in Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of William Gibson‘s The Peripheral. She will play Flynne, a woman living in rural America in the near-future who witnesses a possible murder while watching what she initially believed was a virtual reality feed.

Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan) will write, produce, and serve as showrunner on the series.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are executive producing through their Kilter Films banner after signing an enormous overall deal with Amazon last year, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be involved creatively in the show, so don’t expect any Westworld-esque twists. Vincenzo Natali (Cube) will direct.

Gibson’s 2014 novel is pretty dense science fiction involving multiple futures, alternate timelines, and two different main characters – Flynne and a man named Wilf Netherton, who lives over 70 years in Flynn’s future. It will be fascinating to see how it’s adapted into a series. If Amazon are looking for their own Westworld, perhaps they’ve found it.

Moretz will next be seen in Roseanne Liang‘s Shadow In The Cloud, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. She’s also currently in production on another sci-fi project, though this one’s a film, titled Mother/Android, while she’s also signed on to star in the live-action Tom & Jerry movie.
