Three’s a company but sevens a crowd. Seven is the magic number of today though as Chris Evans has confirmed the full presenting line up for Top Gear, and to be honest it doesn’t fill me with much confidence for the doomed show’s new format.
Joining Matt LeBlanc, Chris Evans, and Eddie Jordan will be Rory Reid, Sabine Schmitz, Chris Harris, and of course the Stig. Evans unveiled the team on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast show, using a reference to John Sturges’ classic western:
“A magnificent seven sent from motoring heaven,” he said. “Well, six plus one. Six plus me.”
I praise the show for putting in its first female presenter, and Matt LeBlanc, but please don’t drag a classic film into this random line up of former sports presenters and car enthusiasts that makes the new remake look even more PC than it was sounding already.
