Christian Bale In Talks To Join ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ | Film News

Per Collider, Marvel may be close to pulling another huge star into the machine: Batman! Well, sort of. Christian Bale is reportedly in talks to join Thor: Love And Thunder. Marvel has not commented at this time.

If true, it’s somewhat surprising considering Bale’s previous DC connections, but perhaps enough time has passed since 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises for him to consider another comic book movie, and for Marvel to no longer see him as Batman. What’s unclear right now is what role they have in mind for Bale, and how he fits into the wider lore.

Taika Waititi – whose Jojo Rabbit is currently in cinemas – will return to direct the follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok, while Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman reprise their roles from previous Thor films.

Bale was last seen in James Mangold‘s Ford v Ferrari alongside Matt Damon. Those kinds of movies – see also The Big Short, Vice, The Fighter, etc. – seemed to be the kind of films Bale was interested in making inn his post-Batman career.

He never seemed like a big franchise guy even when he was under the cowl. But the Marvel machine is a big draw, pays well, and, for positive or negative, is now considered one of the biggest gets for an actor in Hollywood.

We’ll wait for more news regarding Bale and Thor. Love And Thunder is scheduled for a November 5, 2021 release.
