Christina Hendricks Dropped From Showtime Series ‘Roadies’ | TV News

Christina Hendrix

Who recasts Christina Hendricks? Well apparently Showtime have in new show Roadies, which is just a pilot at the moment. Written, directed and executive produced by the mighty Cameron Crowe, this series will follow the lives of the people that work behind the scenes of a Rock tour, and Hendricks was set to play Shelli, the shows female lead.

After gaining acclaim for her role as Joan Holloway, the savvy office bombshell in the masterful Mad Men, Hendricks is now highly sought after, having secured both television and film roles since the series ended. Deadline have reported that the insiders they sourced cite the decision as a creative one and that the parting was amicable. Hendricks fans will be disappointed that the red haired beauty will not feature in this exciting sounding project. With a great cast, fairly unexplored theme and Crowe at the helm, this show has the right ingredients to be fantastic, we can only wonder why Hendricks was not the right match and if this decision will prove to be a good move for the project.

Roadies will star Luke Wilson, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Peter Cambor and Keisha Castle-Hughes. Crowe also has J.J Abrams and Winnie Holzman on board to co-executive produce. Crowe is currently working on re-writing and re-vamping the character of Shelli, if Hendricks was not vamp enough for this role, what kind of femme fatale should we be expecting to meet when the series makes the small screens? I am excited to find out and look forward to future casting news!

Hendricks fans can see her in upcoming Comedy Central show Another Period, Hap And Leonard for Sundance TV. She has a couple of films in the works too, including a John Slattery feature God’s Pocket, and is coming to the big screen next in Dark Places with Charlize Theron.
