Christoph Waltz To Star In Drama Series ‘The Consultant’

Christoph Waltz is teaming up with Amazon for a drama series titled The Consultant, a black comedy thriller created by Tony Basgallop, directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision), and based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Bentley Little. The show will reportedly explore the power dynamics between employer and employee in the workplace, asking how far workers will go to get ahead.

When a failing business hires a consultant to streamline their business practices, they assume everything will be an easy, painless process, only to discover that the odd Mr. Patoff has gained an immense amount of power in a short period of time, invading employees’ lives and quickly becoming more of a menace than anyone could have anticipated.

Michael Wright, president of scripted TV at MGM, said of the show: The Consultant is a biting workplace satire that is as suspenseful as it is darkly funny. Tony has created something truly unexpected with this series, and we are thrilled to partner with Amazon and this brilliant creative team to bring the story to life for audiences around the world.”

Waltz has always excelled in blackly comic roles, from his Hollywood breakout in Inglorious Basterds to the Alexander Payne dramedy Downsizing, so this will likely fit him well.

He’s appeared in No Time To Die and The French Dispatch this year, while he has roles in Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pinocchio and Walter Hill‘s western Dead For A Dollar coming up.

There’s currently no word on when The Consultant will premiere on Amazon.
