French duo Daft Punk will make an appearance on the next Coldplay album, as reported on Coldplay Italia, an Italian fan page on Facebook. What has been called an “almost official” news states that the eighth Coldplay album, which is said to be more “arty” and could be called Fool’s Gold, will also contain a song with Daft Punk.
Indeed, the fact that Coldplay recently announced their intention to produce more “experimental” materials aligns with the hypothesis of a collaboration with the electronic music duo. The new track expected, according to the entries, is called “Mission A.B.O.R.T.”
Daft Punk fans have shown themselves skeptical about the reliability of this news, since the duo’s last published works were the two collaborations with The Weeknd two years ago. At the same time, other signs of a possible collaboration was revealed by another Coldplay Fan Page, ColdplayXtra about a week ago, when they reported that Coldplay had a recording session in Paris recently.
Nevertheless, neither Daft Punk or Coldplay have confirmed they are working together. More information should be coming soon, but in the meantime, fans can only wait and see. This upcoming album from Coldplay will be their first in four years, following their 2015 album A Head Full Of Dreams, although a bunch of live albums and EPs have been released in between time.
