David Schwimmer Teases Fans About Rumoured ‘Friends’ Special | TV News

Appearing on the One Show last night, David Schwimmer deflected questions from hosts Matt Baker and Alex Jones as they tried to get him to confirm the rumours about a possible Friends special.

The actor, best known for his loveable role as Ross Geller in Friends, joked, “Maybe he’s pregnant?” after the chat show hosts presented him with the recent tweet from fellow Friends star Matthew Perry, which said simply, “Big news coming…“.

Schwimmer then said, “I really wish I could confirm or deny. I can’t. There’s nothing official to report, unfortunately“. Alex Jones responded to this disappointing answer by quipping, “I’m looking at your eyes and I’m thinking, maybe it’ll be good news.

The rumours that a celebratory special of the popular 90’s sitcom began with an innocent Instagram post from Jennifer Anniston, which pictured all six members of the Friends cast spending the evening together. Jennifer Anniston also teased on the Ellen Show last October that the sitcom cast were “planning” something.

These hints were followed up later by that maddening tweet from Matthew Perry on Twitter. Fans responded with enormous excitement, eager to believe that these hints really do mean that a reunion episode is on the way, 16 years after the last episode of the popular sitcom aired.

While we will have to wait to find out if these rumours hold any truth, David Schwimmer will be back on our screens at least, as he stars in a new comedy series called Intelligence alongside comedian Nick Mohammed. Schwimmer takes on the role of a driven NSA agent working at GCHQ, where an unlikely friendship blossoms between him and a buffoonish computer analyst, played by Mohammed.

The highly anticipated show will air on February 21 on Sky One at 9pm.
