Diana a musical dedicated to Princess Diana is set to showcase its premiere on Netflix before it heads to Broadway.
The show was performed in previews only a few times before Broadway and its theatres were closed to the public because of the COVID-19 pandemic. To ensure that the show lives on, another solution has been revealed by the producers, as a live on-stage show has been recorded for Netflix so that the public could still enjoy this performance.
The Diana musical producers Beth Williams from Grove Entertainement and Frank Marshall from The Araca Group stated that, “The chance to share our show, first with Netflix’s global audience, and then welcoming a live audience back on Broadway, is something we’ve all been dreaming about for more than a year. We could not be more thrilled to finally share both the film and the Broadway musical with the world”.
The Netflix special musical show was filmed in 2020 and directed by Christopher Hashley, and Jeanna de Wal is the main performer in the role of Diana.
The streaming platform will allow this show about the history and the life of the Princess of Wales to be presented to the public and to have the success it deserves, as the interest around the royal family has always been very strong.
The musical premiere on Netflix will occur on October 1, with its return to Broadway scheduled for December.
