Dior Unveils Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2021 Collection | Fashion News

Fashion Week keeps trending on social media this month. Because of the pandemic, fashion brand and designers had to be creative to propose to their followers and buyers a new way to watch fashion shows at distance if coming in person wasn’t possible. Brand like Louis Vuitton and Prada already made their shows virtual.

For the French luxury brand Dior, its Haute Couture show took place on January 25, 2021. The concept was for all guests to dress up – in their favorite Dior pieces – and attend the show via their laptop. This year, there was also a fortune teller provided for some of the personalities invited to watch the show, adding to the spectacle we are sure.

Each of these guests got a special package from Dior with 22 different tarots cards especially made for the Dior show. The card reading happened just before the show went live. Some personalities were really interested in the cards such as Chiara Ferragni and even the creative director for Dior Maria Grazia Chiuri who got herself a card reading.

Regarding the show and the clothes themselves, the Dior haute couture Spring/Summer 2021 collection is designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director for Dior since 2016. She started her career at Fendi and worked there for more than 17 years.

For this collection, she is inspired by the tarot. The idea is to show each of the tarot cards and for each card would be a model wearing one of her creations and to put them into a situation like the movie shows. It is a mix French’s renaissance gowns added with a touch of modernity from the 1940’s as well as the 1970’s.

But Chuiri was also inspired by the founder of the French luxury brand Christian Dior. Indeed, Christian was really into tarot cards because when his sister Catherine Dior disappeared, he found a certain interest in fortune tellers. Christian wanted to know more about his sister and about his life, and that’s where Chuiri finds her inspiration for this collection.

As regards to the show itself, Chuiri chose director Matteo Garrone once again to make this collection into a short film, he had previously done a similar work to put forward the Dior Autumn Winter 2020 collection. Le Château du Tarot is the name for this short movie, watch it underneath some of our favourite pieces from the collection below.
