Claude Barras, the Swiss director of the popular indie film My Life As A Courgette, is working on his next film. Throughout his career, Barras directed many short films, including The Genie in a Ravioli Can back in 2006.
The second film will be titled Sauvages! and it will be filmed in stop motion, just like My Life As A Courgette. It will tell the story of Moah, a young orangutan that lives in a Indonesian forest threatened by palm oil plantations.
After losing his mother at the hand of the poachers, the debate between the humans who want to send him to a zoo and the humans who want to free him will arise.
Barras will craft the script with a French comics screenwriter Morgan Navarro, who that worked in the Courgette film, and with Canadian writer Nancy Huston.
