South Korean girl group, BP RaNia, member, Alexandra Reid, concerned fans when she took to her Twitter earlier today to say: “If these lies keep magically surfacing I’ll go ahead and come out with the truth. Let it really hit the fan”.
Though she didn’t specify the lies that “keep magically surfacing”, many believe her tweet to be a response to claims made by the group’s choreographer blaming Alex for not participating in BP RaNia’s choreography. RA-GI, the choreographer, had earlier replied to fans complaining about a lack of Alex in BP RaNia’s performances with the comment, “She said she’s not going to because she’s a rapper”.
On the January 17, the choreographer replied similarly to another fan, but softened the harsh words by reasoning that Alex had personal issues keeping her from joining the group’s dances.
The girl group’s label, DR Music, has yet to comment on the growing issue. In the meantime, fans have taken the liberty to discuss the situation. The international K-pop fandom has been voicing their support for Alexandra, who gained many fans back when she made headlines in 2015 for being the first full-black member of a Korean girl group.
Prior to joining BP RaNia, Alexandra was signed to Def Jam Recordings and released several singles and an EP. Her music failed to chart and her American music career was considered a commercial failure.
BP RaNia dropped their extended play, Start A Fire, on December 30, marking their return to the Korean music scene with four new members after losing three girls following their third EP, Demonstrate, in 2015. Start A Fire can be downloaded or purchased on iTunes. Be sure to check out their music video for title track “Start A Fire“.
