Alex Kingston who has been known in recent years for portraying River Song in BBC’s Doctor Who has claimed that she would find the idea of a female Doctor “difficult“. Speaking to Digital Spy, Kingston said that she “can’t imagine the Doctor being a different gender“, because “too many men have played that role”. Although Kingston may struggle with imagining a woman taking on the role, she did say “I would imagine that the [next] Doctor might be of a different race than gender”. Well, you never know until you try, and I for one would certainly like to see a Time Lady take on the role…
