Joya Mooi, an Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter, has released a new single called “You Know Me Well By Now”, in which she reunites with producer Sim Fane for yet another hypnotic piece of modern R&B.
Joya’s latest single glides through a lushious, kaleidoscopic backdrop as her angelic vocals seamlessly shine through, and it’s one of a series of stunning releases that will be released throughout 2021. Joya ruminates on people’s perceptions and the assumptions we make about others, as well as the ones we make about ourselves, in this smooth, down-tempo offering.
As Joya Mooi explains, “I think as people we do many things, sending out mixed messages, avoiding difficult questions or having ‘off days’ – so it only makes sense that most people don’t get to meet the ‘real’ you.
Society is changing a lot, and it looks like people are becoming more hesitant to learn something themselves. I don’t know if it’s fear of trying or if it just seems easier to be detached by default. But it is something that has been on my mind lately”.
Joya Mooi is progressively establishing her mark on the new wave of R&B, working closely with famous producer Sim Fane.
She’s garnered support from BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova, Rinse FM’s Jyoty, and Dutch radio station 3FM, to mention a few. She blends alternative R&B with jazz, soul, and techno sounds with a magnificent vocal ability.
