Alternative rock band Elbow gave a mesmerizing performance last night (Febuary 10) at their Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith concert, whilst frontman Guy Garvey charmed the audience with what seemed to be his strongest vocal performance yet. They also introduced fans to the atmospheric Laura Groves who was the band’s support act. Elbow created a surreal, dream-like atmosphere and took fans on a nostalgic journey by revisiting older songs as well performing their magical debut single “One Day Like This”.
The gig was more intimate than past shows, taking place in a smaller venue with the performances and song choices aimed at dedicated fans. The 5-piece also featured songs from their 2014 album The Take Off And Landing Of Everything and gave a particularly powerful and compelling performance of “Grounds For Divorce” which animated the crowd. Finally, they performed the enchanting “Sad Captains” as their encore before ending the night, saying their goodbyes to the spellbound audience.
