Fresh off the success of directing bizarre box office hit Cocaine Bear, Elizabeth Banks is stepping back in front of the camera to star in Skincare, a thriller directed by Austin Peters.
Lewis Pullman, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Nathan Fillion will also star.
Plot specifics are under wraps, but the film is being described as a vanity thriller set in Hollywood. Peters wrote the script with Deering Regan and Sam Freilich, and the project will be produced by Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment, and Jonathan Schwartz and Logan Lerman.
Skincare is the third film which Schwartz and Lerman have collaborated on as producers, following A24’s The Vanishing of Sidney Hall and CJ ENM’s Press Play. The duo said in a statement:
“We are super excited to see Elizabeth Banks take on this type of role, and ecstatic to be working with Austin Peters. We are grateful to Andrea Iervolino and ILBE for their support.”
Iervolino added: “Skincare is a film with a strong visual impact that, because of the cast and the workers it involves, has enormous potential. It is a film that we at ILBE believe in very much.”
Banks will next be seen starring alongside Zach Galifianakis in Apple TV+ dramedy The Beanie Bubble, which is based on a true story and hits select cinemas on Friday, July 21.
She also has Christine Jeffs‘ medical drama A Mistake lined up, while she’ll lend her voice to Illumination’s animated comedy Migration alongside Kumail Nanjiani.
