After more than nineteen years, Ellen DeGeneres has officially stated that she will end her famous talk show by next year, 2022, making it a total of 19 seasons. She has told her virtual audience the news and confirmed the news on her May 13 episode.
As the talk show star explained: “Two years ago I signed a three-year deal. I always knew in my heart that 19 would be my last. Nineteen is a great number“. She, of course, thanked her fans and supporters for nearly two decades of this show which brought her so much throughout the years.
She continues by saying, “The past 18 years has changed my life — you all have changed my life. I’m forever grateful to all of you for watching, for laughing, for dancing, sometimes crying. This show has been the greatest experience of my life and I owe it all to you“.
The ending of her show next year is also an end of an era, she was one of the first presenters to come out as a lesbian on television in the 90’s, which was quite something at the time. Since then she has been on a rollercoaster of fame. It was only in 2019 were some allegations about the work environment being bad surfaced, that the kingdom started to fall.
Maybe Ellen will have some new interesting projects with new platforms as she has done with Netflix and her one-man show, or a new role in an animated film like her role of Dory in the animated film Nemo. Good luck to her for her future projects and congratulations for 19 years of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
