Ewan McGregor In Talks To Lead Disney’s Live-Action ‘Winnie The Pooh’ | Film News

Disney’s live-action binge continues! Ewan McGregor is in talks to play the lead in Christopher Robin, otherwise known as the Winnie The Pooh movie.

The film follows Robin as an adult businessman focused on his work and having lost his childhood sense of imagination, until one day Pooh  shows up at his door for a new adventure. Ever the adaptable actor, McGregor is a perfect choice for the role. In fact, it’s not his first taste of live-action Disney – he appeared in last month’s Beauty And The Beast as Lumiere.

Despite superb indie director Alex Ross Perry no longer writing and directing the film, the film still looks intriguing with Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Stay) set to direct with Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) penning the script. However, yet another writer – Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) – has been brought in to poke and prod at the script. Too many cooks, etc.

Despite the onslaught of live-action adaptations, don’t expect Disney to stop green-lighting new projects as they’ve so far found huge success thanks to The Jungle Book and Beauty And The Beast. With Mulan and Aladdin arriving next year and The Lion King and Dumbo nearing production, the live-action Disney universe (LADU?) is set to take its place next to other long-running cinematic franchises.
