‘Fantastic 4’ Sequel Might Still Be On The Cards | Film News

This one has got us a little confused, but according to a number of sources it seems like the sequel to 2015’s Fantastic 4 is actually in consideration. The news comes despite the box-office bomb and critical panning of the film last year, which led many to consider it as one of the biggest let-downs of all time.

Speaking in an interview with Den of Geek, producer Simon Kinberg explained “We want to make another Fantastic Four movie, we love that cast – I mean if I were to say to you now Michael B Jordan and Miles Teller, and Kate (Mara) and Jamie (Bell) are great actors – we love that cast. I love the comic, I mean I love it almost as much as X-Men”.

He added a possible reason as to why the prequel flopped, suggesting “We didn’t make a good movie and the world voted, and I think they probably voted correctly. And you can’t make a good movie every time out – not everybody does. We actually have a pretty good batting average, all things considered. But I think we made many mistakes when we made that movie – mistakes that we learned from and we wouldn’t repeat”.

He also stated that the sequel will be much closer to its original source material in terms of tone, which is a significant contrast to the dark atmosphere they originally tried to portray. Perhaps this decision might actually bring back the series to life? but having a film score lower than the 2000’s version of the extraordinary group makes us sceptical.
