Nigerian singer-songwriter Fireboy DML has dropped his first track of 2022, the catchy “Playboy” via YBML and EMPIRE, which comes on the back of his successful collaboration with Ed Sheeran on the monster hit “Peru”.
The singer debuted on 2019 with the studio album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps under the YBNL Nation record label founded by rapper Olamide. More success came with the unforgettable sophomore album Apollo in 2020.
The same year, Fireboy DML won the Listener’s Choice award at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
“Peru” was the latest single by Fireboy DML launched in July 2021 and following by the Ed Sheeran remix just before Christmas. It reached 57 on the Billboard Hot 100singles chart, and it was also certified gold in the UK.
The addictive “Peru” was initially a freestyle song to occupy the duration of a flight to Miami but instantly became the viral summer song.
The singer-songwriter also recently had the opportunity to feature on the legendary “Frozen” remix with Madonna herself and Sickick earlier this month.
Produced by Bizzouch, the attractive “Playboy” sees Fireboy DML in his flirtatious mood, as he sings, “how do you want to play with the big playboy like me, girl do you want to play with the big playboy like me”, with his signature endearing vocals. “Playboy” will be the lead single of his upcoming album, which is set to be released later this year.
