First Picture Of Michael Fassbender In ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Unveiled | Film News

Assassin's Creed

Yahoo! have just released the first image of Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) in the upcoming 2016 film Assassin’s Creed, as lead protagonist Callum Lynch. Yes you heard me correct.

Yahoo! explained saying, “Fassbender’s character was created specifically for the film. (The movie isn’t retelling any of the existing games, but rather introducing new characters into the same world.) Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day“.

Fans of the Ubisoft gaming franchise will be upset with many believing that he would at least portray a character from the series. This however seems like a wise move with director Justin Kurzel (The Snowtown Murders) being able to take the premise of the game into a new direction. Fassbender will star alongside Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (The Wire), and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight) when the film starts filming this Monday including locations in Malta, London, and Spain.
