The first trailer has arrived for William H. Macy‘s sophomore directorial effort, The Layover. The road trip comedy stars Alexandra Daddario and Kate Upton as best friends who decide to escape from their woes at home and travel to Florida. Except, their plane is rerouted to St. Louis where a sexy stranger threatens to seriously test their friendship.
The trailer above is a balance between some very funny moments and the typical sex comedy tropes, but the chemistry between the two leads looks fun, backed up by Daddario who previously told ComingSoon:
“I just adore [Upton] and I think that our relationship will translate on screen because we’re just getting along so well. She’s outrageously hilarious and really intelligent. We’re having a great time”.
It’ll be interesting see Macy direct a raunchy comedy, but with the two leads alongside great talent like Kal Penn, Matt Jones, Rob Corddry and Molly Shannon, with the film written by David Horsby (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) and Lance Krall, The Layover could be set to be a sleeper hit.
The film is released on Friday, September 1.
