First Trailer For ‘The Woman In The Window’ Questions Amy Adams’ Sanity | Film Trailer

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for The Woman In The Window, Joe Wright‘s new thriller based on AJ Finn‘s bestselling novel of the same name. The film revolves around an agoraphobic woman who believes she’s witnessed the murder of her neighbour, but no one believes her.

The trailer is relatively effective, providing of course you don’t go further than the halfway mark, which begins to reveal spoilers that absolutely should not be included in any trailer. That’s the nature of the business nowadays though. Still, the film has potential, especially with a cast that includes Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman and Tracy Letts.

The film is, of course, riffing on the Alfred Hitchcock classic Rear Window, which has influenced countless films since. It was only about a decade ago that Disturbia, a modern update on the 1954 classic was released. And just three years ago we got The Girl On The Train, a similar premise that moved the witness from her home to a train.

The major worry one might have about The Woman In The Window is that it’s been fraught with delays and production problems, with Letts going as far as saying that working on the movie “kind of sucked”, which is especially bad to hear considering that he also wrote the script. Hopefully the finished film turns out better than the experience of working on it.

The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jennifer Jason Leigh. It opens in cinemas May 15, 2020.
