The first trailer has been released for World War 2 thriller The Catcher Was A Spy, which stars Paul Rudd. The film tells the true story of Morris “Moe” Berg, the Major League Baseball player, Ivy League graduate, attorney, and top secret spy, who helped the U.S. defeat Nazi Germany in the race to build the atomic bomb.
Directed by Ben Lewin (The Sessions) and penned by Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat, the film has a pretty incredible cast, including Jeff Daniels, Paul Giamatti, Mark Strong, Sienna Miller, and Tom Wilkinson. The film has also been scored by Howard Shore, best known for his work on The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. The trailer for the film is below:

There’s enough talent in front and behind the camera to get excited for this, and it’s good to see Rudd continue to branch out from his comedy roles (which he excels at) and into more dramatic work, even if the roles he takes on aren’t always the greatest (Mute, anyone?). Hopefully The Catcher Was A Spy can live up to its great cast and enticing trailer.
The film is set to arrive in cinemas on Friday, June 22.
