Netflix just released a sexy and glittery teaser for its newest project, G.L.O.W.
Alison Brie, leads as the out-of-work actress, Ruth Wilder, who struggles to make it in Hollywood in 1980’s Los Angeles. She finally gets her chance for stardom by making the first-ever women’s wrestling TV show. G.L.O.W is inspired by the 1980’s show of the same name, “GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling”.
Brie is joined by Betty Gilpin, staring as Debbie Eagan, a former soap actress, who after having left the business to raise her child, is sucked back when she realizes out her life is not so picture perfect after all.
The female vibe comes before and behind camera as the show was created by the amazing trio, Liz Flahive (Homeland, Nurse Jackie), Carly Mensh (Nurse Jackie, Orange Is The New Black) and Jenji Kohan (Orange Is The New Black, Weeds).
The original GLOW drew its success from its colorful characters, strong women, and over-the-top comedy sketches and it looks like we can expect no less from this new all female adaptation.
Brie has been quite busy accumulating hits in both TV and films for the last few years. After her breakthrough performance in Mad Men, Brie starred as a regular in the acclaimed Community.
Brie has also recently starred in How To Be Single, Sleeping With Other People as well as The Little Hours which just screened at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Brie will also appear in James Franco‘s The Disaster Artist, set to be released in March 2017.
G.L.O.W will be available to stream on Netflix on June 23.
